In Gujarat, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has swept the Municipal Corporation elections held on Sunday last. While BJP has retained Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporations, the party secured a comfortable majority in Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. BJP has got 442 seats out of 555 seats where polling was held, While Congress was restricted to 99 seats only. Other parties and Independents got only 14 seats.
