In Gujarat, ruling BJP has swept the Municipal Corporation elections held on last Sunday. BJP has also improved its over all tally in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporations by defeating its main rival Congress. Quoting Official sources, Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that BJP has maintained its previous tally in Vadodara, Rajkot and Jamnagar Municipal Corporations with marginal gain or loss. BJP has termed these results as victory of party’s developmental policy, while Congress has accepted the defeat by saying that they failed to convince the voters about policy and programs of the party. Our correspondent adds that this is the second big set back after party lost recent Assembly bye-elections in the state.
