The main Opposition BJP today staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha protesting the supplementary Demands for Grant for Jharkhand. As soon as Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Namo Narain Meena stood up to present the supplementary demand for grant, deputy leader of poosition in the House Mrs. Sushma Swaraj raised her objection saying that any budget for the state should be presented by a democratically elected government. Mrs. Swaraj said that BJP will not participate in the procedure as assembly elections are taking place in the state and an new government will soon be elected. When the Minister refused to concede to BJP's demand, the party members staged a walk out.<br/>The Minister of State for Finance however continued with the supplementary demand for grant which was later passed by voice vote.<br/><br/>Justifying the demand for separate state of Gorkhaland from West Bengal, MP from Darjeeling Mr. Jaswant Singh today said the government should recognise its relevance and validity in time. Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr. Jaswant Singh said that the demand must be met in time to avoid protests and backlash. Mr. Singh added that the demand for Gorkhaland was first raised in 1907 and is hence much older than that of Telangana. He demanded the government to identify the justness and validity of the demand.<br/>

BJP stages walkout from LS protesting supplementary Demands for Grant for Jharkhand
