BJP today came down heavily on Congress for attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the delay in convening winter session of Parliament. <br/><br/>The party asserted that extending the Winter Session beyond Christmas is not unusual and there are precedents under various Prime Ministers. <br/><br/>In a statement, BJP General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav said, there was a break during the parliamentary session due to the state elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Delhi in 2008. He said, similar situations were seen in 1981, 1990, 1993 and 2011. <br/><br/>Earlier in the day, Congress President Sonia Gandhi accused the government of sabotaging the session on flimsy grounds alleging that the Prime Minister lacks the courage to face Parliament.<br/><br/>Rejecting the charges, Bhupender Yadav termed the accusations as greatest hypocrisies. Mr. Yadav alleged that the Congress party's sole aim in Parliament has been to disrupt proceedings and prevent debate in the last three years. <br/><br/>The BJP leader also took a dig at Congress Vice President saying it should be pointed that Rahul Gandhi's record as an MP is nothing to be proud of. <br/><br/>He said, in the 16th Lok Sabha so far, his attendance stands at 54 percent while in the last Lok Sabha, his attendance was even lower. <br/> <br/>Mr. Yadav said, fearing possible defeats in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly polls, the Congress is taking to diversionary tactics. <br/><br/>He also termed the comments of Sonia Gandhi on corruption as laughable and listed the scams under the Congress rule.
