BJP today came down heavily on Congress for criticizing Home Minister Rajnath Singh's remarks on terrorism and accused the opposition party of doing vote bank politics on the issue.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, senior party leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sushil Kumar Shinde and P Chidambaram had coined the term Hindu terror during UPA rule.

He said such remarks have weakened the country's resolution to fight against terrorism and helped the elements involved in cross border terrorism. Mr. Prasad said BJP believes that terrorism has no religion, faith and caste.

The Minister also sought reply from Congress President Sonia Gandhi whether she approves earlier remarks of her party leaders about saffron terror. Yesterday in the Lok Sabha, Rajnath Singh had accused the previous UPA government of weakening India's fight against terrorism by coining the term Hindu terror.

Ravi Shakar Prasad also attacked Congress Vice President for his allegation that NDA government and the RSS are promoting mediocrity at FTII in Pune. Mr. Prasad questioned whether the series of scams which happened during UPA rule was because of the intelligence of Congress leaders.
