Shiv Sena President Udhav Thakarey today made it clear that his party wants alliance with BJP and he will not do anything which may endanger alliance with its oldest partner.
However, he also said that Shiv Sena will not accept BJP's demand of 135 seats for upcoming assembly election in Maharashtra. Thakarey was speaking at press conference in Mumbai.
Thakarey's statement is considered as important amid growing rift between Shiv Sena and BJP over chief ministerial candidature and seat shearing formula for the October 15 assembly election.
Thakarey did not elaborate more on seat shearing but said that talks are on and the issue will be resolved in next 2 to 3 days. Amidst growing tension, BJP General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy will meet party leaders in Mumbai today. According to BJP sources, Rudy may also meet Shiv Sena President Udhdhav Thackeray.
When asked weather he is scheduled to meet BJP general Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy today in Mumbai, Thakarey said, he has no idea about the meeting.
Since the seat sharing talks began with Sena, BJP has been demanding more seats in the assembly; however Sena has been constantly denying any seat compromise with its old alley.
Recently Udhdhav Thackeray made remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing displeasure, Thackrey had said that Modi wave has failed to show up in certain states.
Claiming credit for major seats win in Maharashtra in the recently held Lok sabha polls, Udhdhav stated that Modi wave has failed to give due share to its ally Sena.
Angry over Thackeray’s comments, Maharashtra Unit of BJP yesterday stated that its grassroots workers do not want any seat sharing talks with Sena. However, the BJP sources today said that they do not want to disturb the alliance with Sena, however, the party is to set certain conditions for the alliance.
