BJP has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss Yakub Memon's plea against his death sentence in Mumbai blast case. Talking to AIR, party Secretary Shrikant Sharma said the justice has been done with people and families who had lost their near and dear ones in the blasts. He said the decision has once again reaffirmed the faith of people in the country's judicial system. Another party leader Sambit Patra said it is defeat of the people who had tried to politicize the matter. He added that it was unfortunate that some prominent personalities and political leaders made efforts to related the Memon conviction to a religion.<br/><br/>Shiv Sena has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the death sentence of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon. Speaking to media, party leader Sanjay Raut said, the government and the apex court have listened to the voice of the people of India. Raut said, this is Supreme Court's decision, Maharashtra Governor's decision, Maharashtra Government's decision and every one said in one voice that Yakub Memon should not be granted mercy. He said, this was the demand of people of India and a right decision has been taken.<br/><br/>On the other hand, Congress has said that rejection of Yakub Memon's petition by the Supreme Court is only partial justice to the 1993 Bombay blast victims. Reacting to apex court's judgement, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told AIR that full justice would be done in the case when Tiger Memon is brought back from Pakistan and punished.<br/><br/>CPI(M) today said the Supreme Court did not go through the latest substantive issues while dismissing Yakub Memon's plea against his death sentence in Mumbai blast case. Talking to AIR, party leader Brinda Karat said the Apex Court only looked at technical aspects of the case related to curative petition. CPI leader D Raja said, even though the Court has rejected the plea, his party will continue to oppose the capital punishment. Mr. Raja told AIR that he will move a private member resolution in the Rajya Sabha on Friday against the capital punishment. D Raja is among the 300 eminent personalities and leaders who had urged President Pranab Mukherjee to reconsider the mercy plea of the 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon.
