BJP seeks preponement of monsoon session to discuss Food, & Land Bills

The Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed great concern over the existing security situation in the country. A resolution on National Security and Pride adopted at the National Executive Meeting of the Party at Panaji in Goa today accused the UPA Government at the Centre of not being sensitive to the internal and external security matters.

It also charged the Government with communalising terror related issues. The Resolution blamed the Central Government of tackling Maoism in a very confused manner, sending wrong signals across the country. Briefing the media, Party Spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said, no terror can be dealt with by bringing in religion.

In his inaugural address, Party President Rajnath Singh demanded pre-ponement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament to discuss the Food Security Bill and the Land Acquisition Bill. He reiterated his party's commitment for creation of a separate state of Telangana if it comes to power. Mr. Singh demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh over the Coalgate scam.

Senior party leader, L.K. Advani and some other leaders did not attend Saturday's meeting. But party leader, Shahnawaz Hussain dismissed any differences in the party. He said, Advani is not attending the National Executive due to illness and nothing more should be read into it. Another party leader, Yashwant Sinha said in Delhi that he is in good health and his not going to Goa, could be due to some other reasons.

Meanwhile, supporters of Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi held a protest demonstration outside the residence of Mr. L.K. Advani in Delhi. They raised slogans demanding that Advani should allow Modi to assume a greater role in the party at the national level. The BJP however disassociated itself from the protesters, saying they did not belong to their party.

Congress spokesperson, Renuka Chaudhary wondered what kind of a Government BJP can give to the nation in such a situation.
