BJP seeks better amenities for Amarnath pilgrims

The BJP has sought an immediate intervention by the Centre in providing better amenities to the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra.

A BJP delegation today met Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram in New Delhi in connection with the rising deaths of pilgrims during the Yatra. Talking to reporters after the meeting, senior party leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Government and Amarnath Shrine Board were not providing better facilities to the pilgrims. She also demanded to extend the period of Amarnath Yatra .

She said Home Minister had assured the delegation about appropriate action in this regard.
