Several BJP MPs belonging to Scheduled Castes have demanded that 26, Alipur Road in New Delhi, where Dr B R Ambedkar breathed his last on this day in 1956, be declared and maintained as a national monument. In a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the MPs including Virendra Kashyap and Arjun Ram Meghawal, also urged the government to stop the construction activity nearby Dr Ambedkar's birth place at Mahu in Madhya Pradesh.
