BJP today alleged that Congress President Rahul Gandhi's comment on the Supreme Court verdict on Rafale deal amounts to contempt of court.
''
''Briefing reporters in New Delhi, senior party leader and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, in today's verdict, the Court only allowed some leaked documents to be relied upon by petitioners seeking review of its Rafale judgement.
''
''Ms Sitharaman said, Rahul Gandhi referred to the judgement and said the Court has accepted that there was corruption in the deal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was involved in it, which she said is not true. Ms Sitharaman alleged that Mr Gandhi's misinterpretation of the Court's judgment shows what she called the frustration of Congress President.
''
''Congress says the Supreme Court's judgment on Rafale deal today exposed the self-proclaimed clean chit given to itself by the NDA government.
''
''Talking to media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala alleged that the government used to hide behind a self-pronounced clean chit by the Supreme Court which has now been demolished by the apex court in its judgment.
''
''Mr Surjewala accused the NDA government of hiding crucial facts and evidence from the Supreme Court regarding the Rafale deal.
''
''He said the government gave an affidavit to the Supreme Court that the CAG report had given them a clean chit on the matter, based on which a judgment was delivered. Mr Surjewala stated that it was found out later that the CAG report was not even prepared and tabled in Parliament.
