Kiran Kesahri defeated his nearest rival Ram Charitra Yadav of Congress by a margin of 23,665 votes.Smt. Kesahri got 53,732 votes. Smt. Kesahri is a wife of former BJP MLA Raj Kishore Kesahri who was murdered by a school teacher. The Congress candidate Ram Charitra Yadav got 30,067 votes.
