The Senior BJP leader and the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mr. Arun Jaitley today raised serious concern over the direct tax code which is due to replace current income tax Act from 1st April 2011. Addressing a seminar on Direct Tax Code organised by Confideration of All India Traders in New Delhi today Mr. Jaitly said the direct tax code has been drafted without adequate consulation with all stake holders.The preparation of the document has been higly centralized as a result of which the document raises several issues which needs an adequate discussion. Mr. Jaitley urged the government to look into the matter so that in a competitive economy, the load of taxes on a product or a service should be reasonable.
