BJP protest in New Delhi against price rise

A large number of BJP workers led by the top party leadership in the National Capital on Wednesday joined the protest demonstration against price rise of essential commodities. Addressing the meeting at Jantarm Mantar in New Delhi the Party president Mr. Nitin Gatkare charged the government of failure in controlling the price rise. He called for effective steps to deal with the situation as it has hit the life of masses badly. In his address Mr Murli Manohar Joshi alleged that government is in league with hoarders. He also alleged that there is a nexus between the centre and the Mehangai Mafia creating artificial scarcity of essential commodities. Addressing the gathering the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushama Swaraj demanded a ban on forward trading of the essential commodities alleged that the entire central government is responsible for the phenomenal price rise. Mrs. Swaraj said that the price rise is due to the wrong policies of the present central government. Earlier some leaders of the party demanded setting up a joint Parliamentary Committee (PC) to probe into, wrong and malicious import-export policies and the alleged connivance of the government with the greedy middleman. AIR correspondent adds that the BP had launched a nation wide campaign to protest against the price rise. The party leaders held protest demonstrations at Tehsil and district levels and later on in the state capitals. It is culminating on Wednesday with a rally in the National Capital.
