The BJP Parliamentary Board met in New Delhi today. It thanks people for expressing faith in the Party. BJP President Rajnath Singh disclosed this soon after the meeting.
Rajnath Singh said, the BJP Parliamentary Party would meet in New Delhi on Tuesday to formally elect Narendera Modi as its leader.
The BJP Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body of the party, today held its first meeting after the announcement of Lok Sabha election results in which the party was led to landslide victory under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
The meeting was attended by Mr Modi who arrived here today amid victory celebrations.
All the members including L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj attended the meeting, which lasted about an hour. The Board felicitated Modi and thanked him for leading the party to victory .
Party President Rajnath Singh said BJP Parliamentary Party to meet on May 20 to formally elected Narendra Modi as its leader.
He added that Mr Narendra Modi's oath taking ceremony date would be decided on May 20th.
The BJP Parliamentary Party Board adopted a resolution hailing the verdict of the people to the BJP-led NDA to govern the country. Briefing reporters after the meeting in New Delhi today, Party President Rajnath Singh said it is for the first time that any non-Congress political party got overwhelming majority since Independence. He thanked the people for reposing faith in the party and said that the party intends to make India strong and self-reliant.
The Parliamentary Board meeting also decided to send a party observer to hold a meeting of legislative party in Gujarat to find a new leader to replace Narendra Modi as Chief Minister. Senior leaders L K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari attended the meeting among others.
