The Bhartiya Janta Party today alleged that the government is reportedly proposing to dilute the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a joint press conference at the end of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and in the Rajya Sabha Mr. Arun Jaitley cautioned that any such move will be detrimental to the country's national interests and will also affect the moral of the armed forces fighting terrorism in Kashmir. Mrs. Swaraj expressed satisfaction at the performance of her party members in the session and said that it successfully raised the issues like price rise, alleged misuse of CBI, corruption in Commonwealth Games projects and Naxal violence besides terrorism. Mr. Arun Jaitley elaborated that the main opposition supported the government on the crucial Civil Nuclear Liability Bill after government addressed all its concerns. Mrs. Swaraj said that the issue of diversion of funds by Delhi government for use in Commonwealth Games was also successfully raised and government was compelled to commit that Delhi government was wrong in diverting the funds. Responding a number of questions on corruption in the Commonwealth Games projects Mr. Arun Jaitley said that the party will continue to raise the issue to know the facts but for now, the focus should be on successful completion of the games.
