Major parties extend support to pass Lokpal Bill in current session of Parl
The Congress leader Harish Rawat has said that the Government is keen to pass the Lokpal Bill in this session itself. He alleged that the main Opposition party has been obstructing the passage of several important bills.

The BJP today offered its cooperation in getting the Lokpal Bill passed by Parliament even without discussion. Briefing the media in New Delhi, Leaders of Opposition in the two Houses, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley proposed that the UPA and NDA join hands to have the Bill passed without any discussion since it is pending for a long time.

BJP leader Mr. Jaitley said, the legislation has been referred to the Rajya Sabha Select Committee. It has made 15 unanimous amendments, but the government has accepted only 13 recommendations.

CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said, his party is also ready to pass the Lokpal Bill at the earliest.

The Lokpal Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier and is awaiting approval of the upper house.
