BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb moves private member resolution in Rajya Sabha to setup Agarwood Board of India

BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb in the Rajya Sabha, on Friday, moved a private member resolution to setup an Agarwood Board of India under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the holistic development of the Agarwood sector with its headquarter at Agartala, Tripura. In the resolution, Mr Deb has urged the government to support research and development for maximising the potential of the Agarwood sector in the country. Moving the resolution, Biplab Kumar Deb said, this will be helpful in strengthening the country's economy. He said, Agar plants are very expensive and are found in large quantities in Tripura, Assam and Karnataka. Mr Deb said, the commercial value of Agarwood is also very high. BJP MP Ajay Pratap Singh, Rakesh Sinha, Dr. John Brittas of CPI (M), Amee Yajnik of Congress and others also participated in the discussion. The discussion on the resolution remained inconclusive.<br />
