BJP MLA’s murder: Bihar Govt orders high level enquiry

The Bihar government has ordered a high level inquiry into the murder of BJP MLA Raj Kishore Keshri. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Purnea will probe the murder case. Four time MLA Raj Kishore Keshri, was stabbed to death by a woman at his residence in Purnea on Tuesday morning.AIR Patna Correspondent reports that that the woman, identified as Rupam Pathak, has been arrested. The slain Raj Kishore Keshari was an MLA of Purnea sadar. Keshri was stabbed by Rupam Pathak, a lady teacher of a private school, when he was meeting people of his constituency.According to eyewitnesses, Pathak was standing in the queue and whipped out a knife out of her shawl and stabbed the MLA when her turn came. Director General of police Neelmani told AIR that Ms Pathak while meetig MLA stabbed him damaging spleen badly leading to his instant death. After the incident Pathak was brutally assaulted by the supporters of the slain MLA and is stated to be in a critical condition. She was referred to Katihar Medical College Hospital by the police.The accused woman, had alleged Keshri of sexually exploiting her for the past three years. Refuting the allegations senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that the lady had accused the MLA of exploiting her to blackmail him. Mr. Modi disclosed that the lady retracted from her allegation under section 164 before a magistrate last year.Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed the Director General of police to thoroughly review the security of all legislators in view of the murder of BJP MLA. Mr. Kumar also ordered the DGP to ensure frisking of visitors of the legislators.The Chief Minister also appealed to the people and assured the supporters of Keshri in Purnea to maintain peace as the guilty would soon be brought to justice. The cremation of the slain MLA would take place with full State honours on Wednesday in Purnea. Meanwhile, Congress party on Tuesday demanded judicial probe into murder of BJP MLA Bihar. Party spokesperson Premchand Mishra said the matter is not linked to law and order or security of legislators, but manifestation of anger by a woman who, as it appeared, was deprived of justice. He said even the stand taken by deputy chief minister SK Modi on the killing was not perfect. Premchand Mishra further stated that chief minister Nitish Kumar should order a probe by a sitting or retired judge of the Patna High Court into the incident.
