BJP MLA in Karnataka convicted on bribe charges

In Karnataka, BJP MLA Y Sampangi, who was facing bribe charges, is convicted with a sentence of three and a half years imprisonment and Rs 40,000 fine by a Lokayuktha Special Court in Bangalore today.

The MLA was caught red handed while taking Rs 5-lakh bribe in 2009. Lokayuktha Special Judge NK Sudhindra Rao pronounced Y Sampangi as guilty under Prevention of Corruption Act.
