The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party members today stalled the proceedings of the Goa legislative assembly after the Speaker did not accede to their demand to take up the adjournment motion. The motion was demanded by the BJP members in view of the quizzing of the Education Minister Mr. Atanasio Monserrate by customs officials at airport in Mumbai on Saturday for having possessed Indian and foreign currency more than the permissible limits. After the house assembled today after a gap of three days the opposition leader Mr. Manohar Parriker raising the issue in the house said this is a very serious issue that the Education Minister of a state was found transferring currency outside the country and that the house should take up the adjournment motion keeping aside the question hour but the Speaker Mr. Pratapsingh Rane did not consider the demand of the opposition. Following which the opposition members walked in the well of the house shouting anti government slogans and the speaker had to adjourn the house till 2.30 p.m.
