BJP and the Left parties have asserted that they would oppose any dilution of the suppliers' liability in the Nuclear Liability Bill. A BJP spokesperson has said, scope of Clause 17 (b) relating to suppliers' liability cannot be diluted and the Party will oppose any amendments in this regard. The Left parties have said in a statement that amendment proposed by the government went against the formulation suggested by the Standing Committee, which does not require any such proof on the intent of the supplier. The Left parties also accused the government of acting under pressure from foreign nuclear suppliers and domestic corporate lobbies.
