<span style="color: #222222;">In Manipur, the BJP-led ruling coalition won the Confidence Motion in the Council of Ministers through voice vote in the one-day State Assembly session held yesterday. The motion was moved by State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh who is supported by MLAs from NPP, NPF, Lok Jana Shakti Party and others in the present government.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The strength of the 60-member Manipur Assembly has been reduced to 53 at present after the resignation of three MLAs and disqualification of four MLAs under the Anti-Defection Law. The BJP has 18 MLAs while the opposition party Congress has 24 MLAs. Moving the Confidence Motion, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that Union Government has released an amount of 306 crore rupees for development on Minor Irrigation Sector in Manipur. Under the project, satellite mapping will be used to identify availability of ground water and around 300 RCC dams will be built for water storage.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Chief Minister said, the State Government is targeting to provide water supply schemes in all hill districts in the state by the end of December. The present COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down the progress on development works. However, the law and order situation in the state has improved encouragingly. Moreover, the implementation of Inner Line Permit which was granted by the Union Government has given assurances to our indigineous community regarding identity and existence.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Shri Singh also said that the State Government is fully committed to its preparation on prevention of COVID-19 pandemic in Manipur. He also clarified that there is no community transmission in Manipur. The one-day Assembly Session held yesterday was crucial for the BJP-led State Government in Manipur. Manipur Chief Minister moved the confidence motion and the ruling party won the voting through voice vote. The Speaker explained that the voice vote was initiated after considering the numbers of the ruling bench which holds the majority.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the motion, the Chief Minister highlighted the achievement of BJP-led government in the past three and half years while the Opposition leader termed the ruling government as a dictatorial regime run by one person. All the 29 members of the ruling party including Speakers attended the session. But, eight of the 24 Congress legislators did not turn up in the session despite the party whip to attend the session without fail and vote against the trust motion moved by the Chief Minister. </span><br />
