Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha today met party veteran L K Advani at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting came on the heels of war of words between party stalwarts and BJP leadership over stunning defeat of the party in Bihar assembly elections.
Last night, in a joint statement, Mr Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha and Shanta Kumar had slammed party leadership saying Bihar results show that no lesson has been learnt from the fiasco in Delhi Assembly elections. They said the principal reason for the defeat in Bihar is the way the party has been emasculated in the last one year. The BJP veterans also targeted party leadership for saying that everyone is responsible for party's defeat.
Later, BJP had defended its leadership from attack by party veterans. In a joint statement, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari, all former BJP Presidents, said the healthy precedent of collective responsibility for poll victories and defeats was set by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani. They added that that BJP will certainly welcome any guidance and suggestion from senior leaders.
