The BJP has issued notification for the election of its President. Nominations for the top party post will be filed on Wednesday from 10 AM to 11.30 AM and scrutiny will take place from 11.30 AM to 12 noon. A date for election will be announced, if required, after the withdrawal of nominations between 12 noon and 12.30 PM. A statement issued by BJP yesterday said that in the absence of any contest, the elected candidate will be declared at 12.30 pm on Wednesday. The incumbent BJP President Nitin Gadkari is considered the front runner for the post. There has been growing demand within BJP that the leadership issue be sorted out soon as Lok Sabha elections are due next year.
