BJP today said that it has an open mind on the women reservation issue in a bid to build consensus among the political parties across the board. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi this afternoon, leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Ms. Sushma Swaraj told this when asked about the reported move of bringing down the percentage of reservation for women. Expressing satisfaction at the performance of the party in the first half of the budget session, Ms. Sushma Swaraj said that the party is against the use of Marshals in any house. She said that the party has raised the issue of price rise forcefully in Parliament and is now lodging nation wide campaign on the issue. She said, BJP is against reservation on the basis of religion and will continue to oppose the Nuclear Liability Bill. Addressing the press conference, the leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mr. Arun Jaitley alleged that the government failed to have a proper floor strategy during the passage of Women’s Reservation Bill. He said, the floor could have been managed better. He dispelled out that there is any dissention among the party MPs on the women reservation issue. <br/> Reacting to the display of currency garland by Mayawati, the BJP spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad said this is a brazen violation of democratic norms. He said the money could have been used for the upliftment of poor and down-trodden.
