BJP govt falls in Jh'khand, CM Munda recommends Assembly dissolution as JMM withdraws support

The BJP govrnment in Jharkhand today recommended dissolution of the state assembly after its coalition partner , Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,JMM withdrew its support to the government.Chief Minister Arjun Munda met the governor in Ranchi and submitted the Cabinet decision recommending dissolution of the Assembly .Talking to reporters in Ranchi Munda said,he also submitted his resignation to the Governor.Munda claimed that the decision was taken as no national party came forward to provide an alternative government in the wake of the JMM’s announcement to pull out of the government. JMM also submitted its letter to Governor Syed Ahmed today formally withdrawing support to the 28-month-old Arjun Munda government pushing it to a minority.

JMM leader and Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren told reporters at the Raj Bhavan that the JMM’s withdrawal has reduced the government to minority.Soren was accompanied by his father JMM supremo Shibu Soren and other party leaders to the Raj Bhavan.

In the 82-member state assembly, BJP and JMM have 18 members each.Munda government enjoyed the support of six members of All Jharkhand Students' Union, two of JD (U),two independents and one nominated member who has voting rights in a trial of strength.

Opposition Congress has a total of 13, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha(P)11 and RJD 5 members in the assembly.

Relations between BJP and JMM came under strain since the Chief Minister rejected that there was an agreement between the two parties on rotation of power after 28 months in office. JMM, however, insisted there had been an agreement to share power.The 28-month limit for ruling by BJP, according to JMM, ends on January 10th.
