BJP has given notice for breach of privilege against Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma.

Two party MPs, Prakash Javadekar and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, gave the notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari on Wednesday.

The Minister had reportedly assured the House on 7th of December last year that all stakeholders will be consulted before taking a decision on allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector.

The party alleged that despite the promise in both the Houses of Parliament, the government went ahead unilaterally to allow 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail.
