BJP expels Jaswant Singh from party for 6 years

BJP has expelled veteran leader Jaswant Singh from the party for six years. He is contesting the Lok Sabha polls as an Independent candidate in Barmer constituency of Rajasthan against the party's official nominee. Mr Singh did not withdraw his candidature on the last day of withdrawal of nominations yesterday. State BJP unit sent a letter to Party President Rajnath Singh last night through a special emissary recommending expulsion of the defiant leader from the party.

AIR correspondent reports, State BJP unit has taken hard stand since the day when Jaswant Singh announced to contest election from Barmer as independent candidate. Chief Minister Mrs Vasundhara Raje addressed a rally in Barmer on the day when Party’s candidate Col Sonaram filed his nomination.

Before this Mrs Raje called all the BJP MLAs of Barmer and Jaisalmer and directed them to work for Col Sonaram. MLA and Son of Jaswant Singh Manvendra Singh did not meet with Raje but he is not campaigning for Jaswant Singh on health grounds. BJP has expelled one more senior leader former union minister Subhash Maharia who is contesting election from Sikar as independent candidate.
