BJP has expelled its Uttar Pradesh unit vice president Dayashankar Singh from the party for his derogatory remarks against BSP Chief Mayawati.<br/><br/>BJP state President Keshav Prasad Maurya sacked him from the party, hours after he announced that Singh had been relieved from all organisational responsibilities. BJP sources said, expulsion from the party will remain in force for six years in line with the party's rules.<br/><br/>Dayashankar Singh's remarks drew severe criticism from members in the Rajya Sabha, including women MPs, with Deputy Chairperson P J Kurien saying that the House wants the government to ensure that stringent action is taken against the BJP leader, as per law, for his unforgivable comments. Leader of the House Arun Jaitley got up to express regret, saying the remarks were highly condemnable but Mayawati was not convinced and demanded that Dayashankar Singh be expelled from the party and strong action taken against him.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, BSP filed a police complaint in Lucknow, seeking lodging of an FIR against Singh under the SC/ST Act for his derogatory remarks.<br/><br/>?In Uttar Pradesh, a case ?has been registered against expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh for his abusive remarks against B?SP chief Mayawati.<br/><br/>Police said,? the case was registered last night at the Hazratganj police station? of Lucknow? by a complainant who said Singh's remarks had violated the honour of a Dalit woman and tried to foment trouble between two communities.?<br/><br/>The police lodged the FIR against Singh under Sections 153-A, 504 and 509 of the IPC and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.? It said appropriate action would be taken after investigating the charges.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the complainant also submitted a ?CD containing a clipping of the news conference of Singh, which he held? in Mau on Tuesday.? The BSP, meanwhile, has threatened a statewide agitation against the BJP today following which police presence around the BJP offices in the state was strengthened.? <br/><br/>AIR correspondent's report:-<br/> "Though BJP has expelled its state vice president Dayashankar Singh for six years from the party, but Singh's highly objectionable remarks against Mayawati have brought the saffron party on the backfoot. The BSP on the other hand has decided to take to streets raising the issue in a big way today.? The political atmosphere in view of upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections was already charged in UP but the new controversy is going to make it more flared up."
