BJP emerges as single largest party in Maharashtra

BJP is heading to emerge as a single largest party in the Maharashtra Assembly polls winning 115 seats out of 271 results declared so far. The party is also leading in 7 other constituencies in the 288-member house. Shiv Sena has won 59 seats and leading in three.

The ruling Congress has been pushed to third place winning 42 seats and leading in one. NCP has won 36 seats and leading in four. Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena could manage to get just one seat. RSP has won one seat. Contesting for the first time in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has won two seats and leading in one. Others have won 15 seats.

The prominent winners from BJP are Devendra Fadnavis, Vijay Kumar Gavit, Eknath Khadse, Aashish Deshmukh, Sameer Meghe, Vinod Tawde and Prashant Thakur. The prominent losers of the party are Sanjay Deotale and Babanrao Pachpute. The party candidate, Pankaja Munde is leading in Parli Constituency.

The prominent winners from Shiv Sena include Yogesh Gholap, Eknath Shinde, Uday Samant and Deepak Vasant Kesarkar. The party candidate, Kala Ozha lost in Aurangabad east constituency and Dr. Ajeenkya Patil in Karad South.

The prominent winners of the Congress party in the Maharashtra Assembly polls are Prithviraj Chavan, Amit Deshmukh, Nitesh Rane, Ameeta Chavan, Varsha Eknath Gaikwad, Balasaheb Thorat, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and Patangrao Kadam. The party candidate Narayan Rane has lost in Kudal Constituency. The party candidate, D.P.Sawant is leading in Nanded North Constituency.

Among the prominent winners of NCP are – Chhagan Bhujbal, Pankaj Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Rajesh Tope, Bhaskar Jadhav, Jayant Patil and R.R.Patil. The party candidate, Anil Deshmukh has lost in Katol, Ganesh Naik in Belapur and Nawan Malik in Anushakti Nagar. The party candidate, Ajit Pawar is leading in Baramati.
