BJP has emerged as a clear winner at all the other eight municipal corporations barring Mumbai and Thane Municipal Corporations that went to polls this week. BJP has also emerged as a clear choice in nine out of the 25 Zilla Parishads.<br/><br/>In the elections to prestigious Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the ruling party Shiv Sena has registered victory at 84 seats out of total 227 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has gained the second position bagging 81 seats. Results have been declared for 226 seats out of the 227.<br/><br/>Congress is at third position winning 31 seats, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) 9 seats, AIMIM 3 seats and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) 7 seats.<br/><br/>In Thane Municipal Corporation, Shiv Sena has won 58 while NCP has won 33 seats out of 131. BJP has won 21 seats while MIM has opened its account in Thane by winning 2 seats.<br/><br/>In Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, BJP is leading on 32 seats while the Shiv Sena is leading on 25 seats out of total 78 seats.<br/><br/>BJP is also leading in the municipal corporations of Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Amravati, Akola and Solapur.<br/><br/>In Zilla Parishad polls, BJP again seems to be emerging as a clear winner in 9 out of 25 Zilla Paarishads. These districts include Jalgaon, Latur, Jalna, Chandrapur, Wardha, Aurangabad, Buldhana, Sangli and Gadchiroli.<br/><br/>NCP seems to be gaining second position; leading at 7 Zilla Parishads, namely Beed, Parbhani, Osmanbad, Solapur, Satara, Hingoli and Pune. Congress is leading in five Zilla Parishads while Shiv Sena is leading in 4 Zilla Parishads. <br/><br/>BJP today hailed party's unprecedented victory in Maharashtra local body elections and attributed it to pro-poor plank of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters in New Delhi senior party leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said the people have rejected Congress and NCP and every section of the society has voted for the BJP. <br/><br/>He said, it is also a defeat for those who had opposed demonetization of high value currency notes. Mr. Javadekar claimed that BJP will register similar victories in UP, Goa, Uttrakhanda and Manipur assembly polls.
