BJP on Thursday dismissed the Congress allegation of over Rs. 45,000 crore telecom scam during NDA rule terming it as baseless.Talking to reporters in New Delhi, senior party leader and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was Telecom Minister before the recent Cabinet reshuffle, said the opposition party needs to understand that there is no underreporting case of six telecom companies under the NDA government.He said the case is related to the period of 2006-10 when the UPA was in power.Mr. Prasad said the telecom department had sought details from the CAG and received them in June this year.He said after due assessment, the government will recover all the dues with penalty from these telecom firms.Earlier, Congress said that the CAG had initiated an audit of the six telecom companies from 2006-07 to 2009-10 at the instructions of the UPA government. The party said, in its report submitted this year, the CAG found an alleged understatement and underreporting of income by the six companies of over Rs. 45,000 crore.Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala alleged that the government is trying to protect the interests of six leading telecom companies which owe the money to the public exchequer.
