BJP demands special Parliament session to discuss issues related to Bhopal gas tragedy

<br/>The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded convening of a special Parliament session to discuss several issues related to the Bhopal gas tragedy in the wake of new facts coming up.<br/> <br/>Talking to media persons at Lucknow senior party leader and former Union Human Resource Development Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi said that there are several burning questions related to Bhopal gas tragedy case which need to be answered by the government.<br/> <br/>Accusing the Centre of acting under US pressure he said that whatever facts have come up so far, it is very clear that the then Union and Madhya Pradesh state governments had provided all facilities and safe passage to then Union Carbide Chief Warren Anderson to leave the country. <br/> <br/>Dr. Joshi claimed that after the Bhopal gas tragedy in December 1984, a case was also filed in the US court but subsequently it was transferred to Indian courts. He said that it should be probed why the case was not put on the trial in a US court.<br/> <br/>Referring statement of union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee that Anderson was allowed to leave Bhopal as there was a threat to law and order situation. Dr. Joshi said that he would like to ask that on what basis Mr. Mukherjee has made this statement? Whether there was any intelligence report in this regard or a case was lodged.<br/> <br/>Replying to a question regarding re-entry of former party leaders including Jaswant Singh and Uma Bharti into BJP he said that this issues has not yet come for consideration before the Parliamentary Board of the party.<br/>
