The BJP has demanded a Supreme Court monitored probe into the alleged irregularities in Rolls-Royce Aircraft engine deal. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said, the CBI investigation ordered by the government in the case is only an eye-wash till it is not monitored by the Apex Court. He claimed that every major defence scam relating to the UPA government, leaked outside the country as the government tried to hide them. Mr. Javdekar said, this irregularities also discovered in the UK after the arrest of two arms dealers and the government was forced to order a CBI enquiry.

Earlier, Defence Minister A K Antony ordered a CBI probe into allegations of bribery into the 10,000 crore rupees deal for supply of aircraft engines to state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited by the London-based company. The deal relates to supply of engines for Hawk trainer and Jaguar figher aircraft between 2007 and 2011.
