BJP has demanded resignation of Union Minister for Science and Technology Vilasrao Deshmukh following the observation of Supreme Court against him in a land allotment to an NGO.

Party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters in New Delhi that if Deshmukh does not step down, the Prime Minister should remove him.

The apex court on Wednesday declined to interfere with a Bombay High Court order directing Hindi film producer Subhash Ghai to return 21 acres of land allotted to his film academy during Deshmukh's tenure.
