The BJP has demanded a Central probe into the abduction of Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R Vineel Krishna by the Maoists and the steps taken by Odisha Government to release him. The party also asked the Odisha Government to make the Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) signed with the Maoists public. Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bijay Mohapatra, addressing a press conference at Bhubaneswar also demanded to make all correspondence made with the Maoists by the Government and also between the collector and his wife public and lay the same in the Odisha Assembly currently in session. he said, the steps of the Odisha Government would severely affect anti-Maoist operation by the Centre and other Maoist-infested states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Mohapatra alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had directed the abduction of collector to divert attention of the public from a series of scams including mining, coal, and Vedanta university land deal and pulses scam.
