BJP demands 70 % of Union Budget to be spent in villages

The BJP on Thursday demanded that 70 percent of the funds of the Union Budget should be spent in the villages where two thirds of the population lives. <br/> <br/>Initiating a discussion on the demands for grants of the Rural Development Ministry in the Lok Sabha, Senior BJP leader, Mr Gopinath Munde underlined the need for development of infrastructure in the villages saying that this was necessary for stopping migration to urban areas. <br/> <br/>Mr. Munde said that many of the villages are still not connected by roads and wanted the government to spell out time frame for the infrastructure development. <br/> <br/>Taking part in the discussion, Mr. Sanjay Sinh of the Congress said that the Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has changed the face of the villages and has benefited the people in rural areas in a big way. <br/> <br/>He however said that the scheme needs to be implemented in a more effective and transparent manner. The discussion is continuing.<br/><br/>
