BJP today announced the candidature of its sitting MP S S Ahluwalia for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from Jharkhand. Mr.Ahluwalia is already a Member of Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand . The announcement by the BJP has put its ruling coalition partner- JMM in peculiar situation as the JMM has already announced the name of Sanjeev Kumar as its candidate yesterday.
Our Correspondent reports that in order to get elected for the Rajya Sabha, the candidate should get 27 votes as first choice. Both the BJP and the JMM have 18 MLAs each, and another alliance partner-AJSU has five, while there are five independents.
