BJP criticises Opposition following sting operations

BJP today criticised the opposition parties following sting operations by a private TV channel showing leaders of Congress, BSP, SP and NCP purportedly claiming to hide black money after demonetisation. The ruling party opined that such stings have exposed these parties' protest against demonetization as their business of converting black money into white has been stopped.

Speaking to media in New Delhi, BJP leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar referred to the sting which shows that at Congress headquarters, a party member is claiming that he can exchange old demonetised high currency money. He also questioned the BSP, SP and NCP saying these parties should tender apology to the nation for their protest against the demonetisation.

In the stings, BSP President of Ghaziabad is being seen claiming to exchange the old notes at a commission of 35 to 40 percent. A Samajwadi Party leader of Noida also offering to replace the invalid notes with new currency. Similarly, an NCP leader of Delhi is speaking in the same language in the alleged videos.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar also criticized those parties whose members are allegedly involved in converting black money into white for 40 per cent commission.

Talking to media outside Parliament, Mr Kumar said, such an action by the opposition parties is an attempt to sabotage Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fight against black money.

The Minister said parties whose members are allegedly involved in it should explain their position. Reacting to the allegations, BSP chief Mayawati termed the expose by a private news channel as pre-planned. She questioned why the sting operation was only carried out on the opposition parties.

Meanwhile, BSP chief Mayawati has asked the party's state unit head Ram Achal Rajbhar to expel those leaders who were found negotiating to convert black money into white in a recent sting operation.

Party sources said in Lucknow that an expulsion order will soon be issued.
