Minister of State for Electronics and IT and senior BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar took strong exception to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accusing him as a communalist and stated that the Chief Minister has no moral authority to call him so. He was referring to a comment made by Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Addressing a press conference in Kochi on Monday, Mr Chandrasekhar observed that under Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala has shown an increasing tolerance towards radical elements. He criticised the State government for providing the Hamas leader an opportunity to address the youth in the State recently.
''
''The Minister said both the Congress and the CPI-M turned a blind eye to the issue of radicalisation of the state's youth and have instead put the blame on the BJP and the RSS as being communal. He pointed out that when a Hamas leader is allowed to preach hatred, it is treated as freedom of speech and when BJP points that out, it is branded communal.
''
''The Minister noted that it is the innocents of all faiths that pay the price of terror and appeasement. He said, communalism is used as a cover to hide ineptness, corruption or appeasement by the LDF government, while the Congress remains mysteriously silent on the issue. Earlier, Mr Chandrasekhar visited the Convention Hall premises at Kalamassery, where IED blasts yesterday claimed the lives of three persons and left over 40 injured. He also visited those injured in the blasts, recuperating in the hospital.
