The BJP core group is meeting in New Delhi today. Discussions on replacement of Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda with Lingayat leader Jagadish Shettar assumes prominence in the wake of revolt by Yeddyurappa camp demanding change of guard in Karnataka. Jagadish Shettar, the Rural Development Minister in Karnataka, is B S Yeddyurappa's choice for Chief Ministership.

AIR Correspondent reports, senior leaders in the BJP have also questioned yielding to Yeddyurappa's demand as the present Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda was also Yeddyurappa's choice.

The Sadananda Gowda government had plunged into a crisis last week after a fresh bout of rebellion erupted in the BJP with nine ministers from the Yeddyurappa camp submitting their resignations. They however, withdrew their resignations after the central leadership stepped in.

The meeting convened by BJP President Nitin Gadkari at his residence is also expected to discuss the party's strategy for the Vice Presidential elections.

The BJP Core group meeting is being attended by Party leaders including L.K Advani, Arun Jaitley, Anant Kumar and Uma Bharti among others.
