BJP core committee meets on latest revelations in Bofors deal

A meeting of core committee of the BJP was held on Wednesday in the wake of latest revelations about kickbacks in the Bofors deal in New Delhi on Wednesday. The top brass of the party discussed this and other cases of corruption during the second stint of the UPA. Later speaking to newsmen the leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that the recent revelations of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal clearly show that people in close proximity to the congress leadership including Quattrocchi received the kick backs in the Bofors deal. Mr. Jaitley said that the Tribunal has given all the details including the quantum of money paid as kick backs for the deal. He said that details are so specific in nature that nobody can dispute it. Jaitley alleged that instead of welcoming the decision of the Tribunal, the Congress is cynical and critical. He said that the revelations have completely demolished the cover up campaign over the Bofors issue of the Congress for more than two decades and said that both the Congress leadership as well as the Prime Minister are accountable for that. He also said that his party will adopt a resolution exclusively on corruption in UPA at its national executive meeting at Guwahati scheduled for 8th and 9th of this month. He said that the BJP and NDA will also intensify their campaign against corruption.
