The BJP today condemned the 'atrocities' on the displaced families by the police and ruling BJD activists during the

construction of Common Corridor Road for the Kalinga Nagar industrial complex in Jajpur district of Orissa. The state BJP president and former Union Minister Juel Oram alleged that the tribals, demanding land for land and rehabilitation before their displacement for the construction of the Corridor are being assaulted and terrorised by both the police and criminals hired by the ruling BJD leaders of the area. He said even the media and Opposition party leaders are 'barred' by the police from collecting first hand information of the 'atrocities committed by the police' on innocent tribals.

The BJP president said his party is not opposed to the construction of the Corridor or industrialisation in the area but it should be done after discussion with the displaced tribals who had been demanding land for land and rehabilitation before they were displaced from the area.
