The BJP today attended the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, JPC, on 2G spectrum case. With this, the party has ended about two-month boycott of the proceedings of the house panel over differences with the government on summoning the Prime Minister and Finance Minister as witnesses. Six BJP leaders including Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan, Gopinath Munde, Haren Pathak and Ravi Shankar Prasand are members of the JPC from the principal opposition party.
AIR Correspondent reports, the BJP had stayed away from the previous two sittings of the JPC demanding that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram depose before the committee on the case. However, JPC chairman had yesterday once again ruled out calling the Prime Minister and said there is no consensus in the panel to call Mr Chidambaram.
