In Karnataka, BJP today appealed Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde to withdraw his resignation. A delegation of Senior BJP leaders including party state president, Home and Law Ministers met Mr.Hegde to pacify him. The delegation assured him that the state Government will take action against illegal mining. <br/><br/>Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Party president K S Eshwarappa said the government will approach the Centre to stop iron ore export from Karnataka.<br/><br/>Mr.Hegde had recently announced his decision to resign accusing the BJP government of being indifferent towards tackling corruption in the state.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Bihar Lokayukta R N Prasad has backed Hegde's decision to quit saying there was no justification in continuing in office if the state government does not cooperate. He said if the law had been enacted to take care of complaints against Loksevaks, it should be enforced in letter and spirit.
