BJP and Shiv Sena demand President Rule in M’rashtra

Legislators of the BJP-Shiv Sena combine on Wednesday met Maharashtra governor S C Jamir to reiterate their demand for President Rule in the state. BJP leader Eknath Khadse had criticised the delay by Congress and NCP in forming the government saying that if the ruling alliance was concerned about people, they would have formed the government by now. Even as the tenure of the 11th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly ended on Tuesday, the deadlock over government formation continued in the state. The Governor held meetings with caretaker Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and caretaker Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Tuesday regarding the government formation. While Mr Bhujbal said that NCP will give outside support to the Ashok Chavan-led government till the power sharing issue is resolved, senior NCP leader Praful Patel underplayed the statement by asserting that the party will take part in the ministry formation. After announcement of results of the 12th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls, Congress and NCP have been bargaining hard over power sharing in the ministry.
