In Odisha, BJD MLA Jagabandhu Majhi and his Personal Security Officer have been shot dead by suspected Maoists. According to reports, the Umerkote MLA of Biju Janata Dal was attending a public meeting and distributing land records at Gona Hatapadar under Raighar police station in Nowarangpur district when he was shot dead by some assailants. The assailants fled the scene after committing the crime. The body of the deceased MLA and his body guards has been brought to the Raighar police station. There had been an attack on the life of the deceased MLA on an earlier occasion too.Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has strongly criticised the attack and has asked the Crime Branch to probe into the matter.
