Biting cold sweeps North India

Biting cold continued to sweep Laddakh region of Jammu and Kashmir as the minimum temperature in Leh has plummeted to minus 16.4 degree Celsius. Our correspondent reports that due to harsh weather, especially in morning and evening, people are forced to remain indoor.In Uttar Pradesh, fog has badly affected road and rail traffic. AIR correspondent Salman Haider reports from Gorakhpur that Northern Railway has cancelled seven pairs of trains up to 31st January as they were running more than twenty four hours’ delay. Thick fog and poor visibility has badly affected the road and rail traffic. Coldwave is sweeping the entire state. Muzaffarnagar has recorded the lowest temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius. According to met department the foggy condition may continue till next 48 hours.
