Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Director General Ms. Surina Rajan said that BIS would set up a Pashmina testing centre in Leh, in partnership with the lab of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh.<br />'' <br />'' 'Drive for Pashmina', a Motor bike expedition to create awareness and promote Pashmina is flagged by the Hill council CEC Gyal P Wangyal and BIS DG Surina Rajan. The expedition was flagged off by the Ladakh MP from Delhi.<br />'' <br />'' Setting up of a lab in Leh would take two months time, Surina Rajan said. She also said, the standards testing will have lab, machines and scientists to check the quality of pashmina collected.<br />'' <br />'' However, BIS would train the locals, with the cooperation of Leh Hill Council, in marking of the standards to save the time and money. After releasing the BIS Standards of Pashmina tomorrow, the marking will be started Surina said. Ladakh region and parts of Himachal and Kashmir have the world-class Pashmina production.<br />''
